Hassle Free Logistics - U.A.E

U.A.E as a logistics hub of several multinational companies, the shipper’s faces several operational issues in their day to day activities. Major share of goods movements in the region  happens through sea and air freight shipments. There is also an active movements of shipments to GCC countries by road. Because of the U.A.E’s geographical location and other favorable factors, the majority of the leading Multinational companies are controlling their MENA (Middle East and Africa) operations from U.A.E.

Even though the authorities have established the latest technologies to support airport, sea port operations and E-clearance, at some particular case especially in sensitive and urgent shipment, the shipper could face an unpredicted delay due to several hassles.

Some of the open issues which come to my mind are

  •  Imprecise commitment from service providers
  • Mess-up inventory
  • Communication issues with vendors, suppliers, colleagues and service providers
  • The acceptance of documents to authorities
  •  Irregularities in shipping documents and lack of required information like HS code, country of origin.
  • The competition in freight forwarding industry

One of the particular issue which come across to our operation is the extended transit time in sea freight from Europe to Jebel Ali. We had requested the service provider to find out the better sailing but was in vain due to the time and budget restrictions. At the end the situation leads to jeopardize our delivery commitment with customer and incurred additional expenses to extend the validity of L/C.

Keep in mind ‘Logistics’ within an organization is a challenging job and you will be noticed only when movements are not in line.

This is an initiative to bring the day to day issues which come across in logistics and supply chain activities to a common platform.

Your open minded suggestions and expertise are welcome.
